How do I make measures invisible?

• May 12, 2019 - 18:27

I have gotten this situation before where I am composing or arranging a piece and I need to make measures invisible to avoid a delay at the repeat. In Musescore 2.3, this was as simple as selecting the measures and pressing V. Now in Musescore 3.0.5, that same procedure makes the rests invisible but not the measures. I don't know if this is because I made the score with the string quartet template or not but I really do want that measure between the ending repeat of the Allegro and the beginning of the Andante to be invisible. Not just the rests within. It is measure 74 where the first section break is. Here is the score as it looks in Musescore:

Here is that same score as it looks when I upload it:

As you can see, in the upload the rests are invisible but the measure is visible. And this is after selecting the measure in all 4 staves and pressing V, the same procedure that I did for my Piano Sonata no. 4(which I think I posted here several months back about the section break causing a delay in the repeat and I was told the invisible measure solution). But evidently, the simple way to make a measure invisible in Musescore 2.3 no longer works to make the measure invisible in Musescore 3.0.5

So then, how do I make the measure invisible and not just the rests in the measure?

I think your memory is playing tricks on you - "V" never made staff lines invisible. It's always been just the notes / rests / other elements. Edit / Instruments has always been the palce to do this.

How is that done? EDIT *Found it under frames and measures. It's huge! is there a way to adjust it? and there's an awkward indention at the first verse. **EDIT the vertical fame allowed me to adjust. The indention is still there though. ***EDIT used an addition horizontal frame to get rid of the indention.

See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/frames.

If that doesn't help come back here with an example score (.mscz file) and a detailed description of the appearance you are trying to achieve.

It is not clear what "indentation" you are referring to but if you mean the default indentation of the first measure in a score, you can get rid of that via [Format]>[Style]>[Score] and untick "Enable indentation on first system". Again, if I guessed the problem incorrectly come back with more details.
