Multi-measure rests
Long time hack musician that is new to this. How do I enter a multi-measure rest? Four measures in this case. I do see the rest icon. Thanks!

Just press "m" and ALL empty measures become multi-measure rests, but better to enter all the notes first and do this at the end.

Another twist. I completed entering all of the notes in the desired measures. Where I need the multimeasure rests I have a whole rest. How can I change the whole rest measure to a multimeasure/quantity rest? Thanks.

Insert the desired number of empty measures before (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#insert), then activate the option for multimeasure rests: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-rests#multimeasure-rest.

I strike the M key but all it does is add a blank line between lines of staff. Am I in the wrong "mode"? Just trying to create a chart for a wind instrument.

Open attached example score. If you press there "m", it will change the empty measures (I inserted before) to a multimeasure rest. Or do I misunderstand your request?

Very helpful. It looks like I should have been creating multiple whole rest measures for the desired quantity then using the "M". I need to delete a measure. Can't seem to find directions in handbook but I have done it before. Doh!

Delete a measure: select, press Ctrl+Del
That sure is in the handbook, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#delete

I found how to delete the measure! Going to rehearse this tune tonight with the band and perform tomorrow night!
Normally you don't need to do anything to create multimeasure rests - they happen automatically when you generate parts from a score. The only time you'd ever need to create them automatically is if for some reason you are entering parts individually instead of creating a score. Then pressing "M" will absolutely turn any adjacent series of empty measures into a multimeasure rest. Want a 4-bar rest? Then leave four empty bars. When you press "M" it turns into a 4-bar rest.
