MIDI input device errors
Hello All! Merry Christmas! I am having a problem setting up a MIDI keyboard? The steps are that I am supposed to plug in and turn on the keyboard and then turn on musescore after the keyboard is on. However, when I have the keyboard on and plugged in, musescore does not boot up. It says something along the lines of musescore crashing. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thank you!
Also I realize it’s Christmas so I am definitely NOT expecting a response right away, or even today really. Spend time with your families and have a Merry Christmas!!

One thing you can do is try https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings
Check from: Edit/Preferences/I/O if the device is listed. From the same dialog try Restart Audio Engine.
Best wishes.

I can’t check the weather preferences because with the keyboard plugged in, musescore will not boot up, it keeps showing a pop up saying “unfortunately, musescore has crashed” before it fully opens. The only way musescore will start is if I don’t have the keyboard plugged in. Unless it should still show up in the drop down if I plug it in after I start musescore, in which case the drop down won’t even open.

Which version of MuseScore (3.6.2 I guess) on which operating system?
If you turn on the keyboard after starting MuseScore does the crash still happen?

Yes, 3.6.2. And no it does not crash if I turn it on after I turn on musescore. But the keyboard just doesn’t do anything on musescore

I tried the restart audio engine part. But how do I check what type of drivers I have? Like wether it is 64 or 32 but?

Also I would like to keep revert factory settings as the absolute last resort. I have changed many things about my palates and shortcuts that it would be a disaster to have to restart all of that lol

To protect your customised setup, you can save any custom palette as an .mpal file. See Handbook:
