I got all excited but unfortunately that doesn't work with my little Akai LPK25 midi keyboard - I have to plug it in before starting Musescore. I wish it did as I often forget to do so...
I think he's talking more about a keyboard that uses usb rather than a midi connector. I have a keyboard that only has headphone and usb output. I can get it to work in Audacity, but not MuseScore.
My LPK25 only has a usb connector, which works fine if I remember to plug it in before starting Musescore. I can understand now though why JoJo's tip doesn't work.

Are you asking how to do it? Plug it in BEFORE starting MuseScore. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input#midi-keyboard
Or toggle the MIDI button in the toolbar (off and back on)
