Bagpipe ornament playback
Hi!
I am very happy that musescore is one of the only notation software out there that has bagpipe ornaments pre installed. The only thing is when ever you place a grace note, a throw on D or any ornamentation for that matter the play back of the tune is horrible. I can´t even make out the normal melody anymore.
Is there a way to enhance the playback of the ornamentation or just to let them not sound when ever I´m listening to my written tune?

Bagpipe ornaments really only work an a Bagpipe instrument, which is transposing down a major second.
I guess your problem is that the instrument you're using them on is not transposing??

Even if choosing "Bagpipe" as the instrument, the single grace note plays at half the duration of the main note, instead of fast like an acciacatura. The throws play correctly, or at least they do in the only score I have made.

I see, then you'd need to make them acciaccaturas.
Might be #311991: Bagpipe gracenotes - A single note is not played correctly?

Yes, this must be the same thing. These gracenotes are from the Bagpipe embellishments palette so it's reasonable to expect them to play back correctly.

Well, it should. It doesn't because there's a known bug

I hope it will get fixed in MuseScore 4 :)

Hmm, ISTR that we did change the playback (shorted, accaiccatura style) of these grace notes, but only if there was more than one, after quite some discussion.
Need to to dig this up again.

Found it: https://musescore.org/en/node/277609 and https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/4105, went into MuseScore 3.5, but indeed only if more than 1 gracenote in a row

Very interesting - thanks for the links, and all the hard work behind the scenes that goes into creating MuseScore.

Maybe turning (at least) all these 1-note bagpipe ornaments into acciaccaturas (and with a hidden slash) would work?

It might. They would need to look correct, i.e. demisemiquavers rather than the quaver of the current acciaccatura . The advantage of the current palette is that it contains the ornaments at different pitches, so you can just select the one you want and it is there, rather than having to repitch. Repitching the 1-note ornaments would be a bit of a drag because there are so many. However, I'm not a programmer and may be asking for the moon!

It is just 9 of them
