Unable to import MIDI file

I have been trying to import a standard MIDI file from a ProTools 5.1 DAW on Mac OS9, and I get the message:
Cannot read file, (file name) unknown type. The file opens in my system and in Garage Band on my 2020 MacBook Air.

I just changed the Preferences in Finder to show all extensions and nothing has happened with the two MIDI files I have on my Desktop. Using the Command I, it says they are both Standard MIDI Files
