Is it possible to have no time signature?
I am transcribing a recording in which each measure has a different number of beats. Is there any way to just not have a time signature, rather than having to change it for each measure? I tried deleting all the time signatures, but the whole thing just ended up in 4/4, which was the signature I selected when I created the document.

If you delete the time signature it goes "missing" and MuseScore then makes a 4/4 assumption when opening the score.
Instead you can go into Staff/Part-Properties and uncheck the visibility for it.
