Some hairpins work, some don't
Hello
I'm trying to make a synth pad and I'm having a really hard time with notes with long attack times.
I create two notes on two bars, I join them, add a crescendo hairpin but it doesn't playback properly. However, some minutes ago I did the exact same on another part of the score and it works how it should work. I tested this on a new score and it works as well, but sometimes (when I copy and paste the hairpin notes somewhere else it may stop working). Anyone knows if it's a me problem?

Yes, even with those marks they don't work.
I noticed that in the ones that DO work, the hairpin "snaps" to each dynamic mark, and the playback slides. On the ones that don't, it doesn't snap and the playback advances once every beat.
Hairpins look at the preceding and following dynamic marking to determine the playback. So make sure those are correct. If you think that it will be obvious to a human player what dynamic you want at the end of the hairpin and thus don't want to need to add it, you can either add it and make it invisible, or use the Inspector to set the degree of velocity change.
If you continue to have problems, please attach your score and say which hairpin in particular isn't working as described above.

If I'm not mistaken, on Musescore 3 you don't need dynamic marks anymore, and you can adjust the gain with the velocity value. I tested this with my hairpins that work.
Anyways, as I told @bobjp, there are some that don't work, and no matter what I do or what I change they will stay this way. I even noticed that sometimes when I have a working hairpin and add another hairpin somewhere else on the score, the one that worked does not anymore. I'm lost.
In the end I've decided to abandon the idea of making a synth backing track because of this. Not that it matters anyways since it's a piano transcription what I'm working on, but it's a bit frustrating. I'll try to attach it though!

Scratch that anymore, the harpins' velocity change is supported since very long.
It doesn't help the musicians though, they'd still won't know from where to what to go

Both MuseScore and real musicians work better if you include dynamics to they don't have to guess. But as I said, if you have a case where you are sure based on the musical context that human musicians will guess correctly, simply add the invisible dynamics or use the Inspector to get MsueScore to do what you want also. This is no different from previous versions.
It really truly does work if you do it correctly, so again, if you attach your score, we can probably sort this out instantly.

Hey, I got it working somehow. After fiddling with the velocity number it works as intended.
Looks like it was a skill issue after all, heh.
Thanks for the help :)

You shouldn't have to fiddle with anything. Depending on the font and instrument, hairpins just work and don't stop working. If you post the score, someone can help.
I have never touched a velocity setting and still get what I want.
