how to write music notation on Musescore
I am trying to write a song on Musescore. But when I log in all I see are classes to sign up for, or scores to read - I don't see any place to write down music notation. What am I missing?

You're not writing music on MuseScore (.com), but with the MuseScore program that you can download from musescore.org
Download the notation software here:
https://musescore.org/en/download
Check out the handbook here:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook
Then you can use your Musescore account to upload your finished scores to musescore.com to share with other Musescorers.

Thank you! Do I need to join Musescore PRO+ (for $69.99?) to be able to write music and print it off - or can I do that just by using that link?

No, you don't need Pro or Pro+

You don't even need an account of any kind, or to visit that other website musescore.com at all. That website is for sharing scores with others online, it has nothing to do with ac tually creating them on your own computer. That is done through the software you download from this site, and after that, you don't even need an internet connection to use it.

A already said, the software is totally free without restriction and without needing any account. So, yes, just use the download link above.
If you want to share your scores online then you can do so with a free account on musescore.com, i.e. there is still no need for a paid subscription.
