Musescore won't open files either by clicking on the desktop icon, or opening an .mscz file. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice. How do we solve this dilemma? Can you please tell me what you mean when you said try the -w command line option.
See the Handbook section on reverting to factory settings to learn how to use the command line if that's not something you're already familiar with - https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings. Try doing it as shown there with the -F first, and if that doesn't work, try substituting -w instead.

When you open the app it will continue to crash. I have uninstalled it and it still did not work.
Try the -w command line option or start MuseScore by double clicking on a score file

I just downloaded it so I won't let me create a new score
