No sound, PortAudio options empty
I know this is a common issue that gets asked often but this seems to be a different variation of a similar issue.
I changed audio interfaces yesterday and don't have access to the old one.
Whenever that old interface isn't plugged in or turned on musescore crashes on startup. I've tried factory resetting, reinstalling, replacing the portaudio dll with two different prebuilt versions, attempting to start the program with various different audio devices (each time only one available in windows) but I fear it would only work with my old audio interface connected because if I forgot to turn it on before booting the software I would get a similar crash.
Using --use-audio "pretty much anything"
gets it to boot, however this leaves all of the PortAudio options empty. This is the same result with the current windows version and the nightly build. changing the INI file so that jack is used instead of portaudio allows me to boot consistently with no issues but there is no sound. Setting it to port audio and clicking OK or APPLY crashes the program.
I am on windows 10, using version 3.6.2 and also the nightly build. any help is super appreciated as I've been stuck here for a few days.

For reference, I was previously using the FiiO K5 pro, usually with the ASIO api, and have replaced it with the MOTU M2.
Not having an issue on Musescore 4. Was unaware this was available.

To be clear, MuseScore 4 is not available yet. But there are indeed experimental pre-release builds that are provided for testing purposes.
Make sure your OS isn't still reporting the device is present. Also make sure no other program is receiving exclusive use of your audio devices - most OS's have an option to disable that.

(Windows 11)
I've tried disabling exclusive mode application priority in the sound control panel— and the old device doesn't show up anywhere. I've even tried using it with only one device appearing in the list. I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, and audacity's PortAudio implementation using ASIO seems to work fine. I'm not sure where I can go from here, as playing on a midi controller with a 1024 buffer size on the Musescore 4 pre-release build is difficult for me.
I appreciate the help.
Same problem...
but here's how it occurred for me ( on windows-11)
1. Every was working fine on MS 3. Audio is good.
2. I installed MS 4 to see how is was. Audio was working om MS 4. But then I discovered that MS-4 can only show 1 tab of music, which is a non-starter for me. So i had to revert back to MS 3.
3. Now the audio in MS 3 is all greyed out, and doesnt work anymore. Audio in MS 4 is still ok.
4. Delete the MS 4 app. Reboot PC. Audio on MS 3 is still grayed out.
5. A lot of other trouble shooting, bit to no avail.
Seems that the act of MS 4 has destroyed the audio playback in MS 3.
How to fix this ??
