Re-pitch
I copied lyrics and pitches from one part and created another. I used the Re-pitch mode (command-shift-I) and was able to add new pitches. However, I couldn't make the originals go away. Any tips?

Re-pitch mode would/should do the replacement. Entering a new pitch will replace the old one.
So I'm not quite understanding which "originals" you're referring to.
Perhaps if you could, share a score with the starting situation and tell us which steps you took/we should take to see the issue. Possibly also provide a score/image of the desired end result.

When I entered the new pitches, the old one did not go away. I would attach a copy, but it's saved on my desktop at home. Are my scores saved on the Musescore site? I couldn't find them.

Here is my score with the original notes (copied and pasted from a different one) still visible (they are the ledger line notes).

Is there any chance you tried inputting the new pitches using the mouse?
Quoting from step 3 of https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input-modes#repitch :
"Now enter pitches using the keyboard, MIDI keyboard or virtual piano keyboard."
Mouse input is not an option there.

Yes, I used the mouse. If I don't have an electronic keyboard, is there another way to add them?

Re-quoting your handbook isn't helpful. By keyboard, do you mean the computer? Where do I find the keys to press for notes? And what is a "virtual piano keyboard"? I've never heard of this.

I've meanwhile clarified the handbook to say computer keyboard, and to link to virtual piano, so please (re)read that handbook page
The keys to press are A-G, the note names, and P for virtual piano

Won't it help if the handbook explicitly notes that you cannot use mouse in this mode? I think once the user is aware of this , it is quite intuitive.
