Crash Caused by Inserting Measure (MuseScore 4)

I'm trying to insert a measure into an existing score. When I add the measure to the score, it populates with no rest, just a small blank space between two pickups. I'm trying to tie an 8th note to two whole notes (the first of which being the new inserted measure). I first tried inputting a tied whole note into the new measure on the part, but this causes MuseScore to crash every time. I then tried adding it on the score, which worked but did not show up on the part. I cannot seem to interact with this new measure at all. When I try populating a series of quarter notes, it simply jumps right over the added measure.
