In the right side of the play panel there is a gear. Click on it and uncheck play chord symbols.

Thanks but now I can't find the play panel. The only gear I se4e is to customize the tool bar

The play panel in in the upper right. It has the arrow button that you click to start playback.

Jeez I had a windows thing covering that. I've always used the space bar to start and stop playback. Learn something every day.
