Hyphens and lyric spacing in MuseScore 4

I downloaded a score of "Historia de un amor" from MuseScore.com and it needed a few corrections. It had saved nice looking in an older version. When I did the conversion to MS 4, it started hiding hyphens in hyphenated words and running words together. In Spanish it is very important to break down the syllables and have absolute clarity which syllable goes with which note, or people will do it wrong. I increased the stretch on the whole score twice but it's still messy. Since I did not originate this score, I have no idea how it started, but I know there have been issues with scores of sketchy provenance before. What can I do to make sure that all the hyphens show, and the lyrics are spaced also with spaces around each word or syllable? Thank you
