Timpani Help
I'm looking to transcribe something for OpenScore, but my timpani won't work. It sounds like a weird drum and the notes are red, meaning they can't be played. I looked on other pieces and the notes should be regular, so I don't know what the problem is. I've attached a photo for any help.

2 octaves and 2 major second transposed?
Right click on timpani staff, select "Staff Properties",
click "Change Instrument" button,
select Pitched Percussion -> Timpani,
OK, Apply, OK

That worked, but it changed the key signature to D Major, but in my original score it says it should be on C Major.

You must have changed the key for the timpani only to C. Put the key signature in on your score again and it should be fixed.

Somehow you must have done something wrong when you created this score. Did you add the instrument as contrabass saxophone and then change it to timpani, perhaps? Or maybe you started with a MusicXML file imported from a program that did not include proper transposition information?

I followed all the suggestion, but my timpani sound like tuned snares (hear attached). What am I doing wrong?

Looks like you are using MuseScore 4 but haven't set up Muse Sounds yet - if you want more realistic playback, you need to download those (from Muse Hub).
