MuseScore 4 desktop does not play back properly
When playing any midi file through MuseScore 4, it sounds bubbly, crackly, and slow, with an echo. A month ago I found a work-around by opening the mixer controls, but something changed and it doesn't work anymore.

I have the same problem - any score, and these are really simple - like 6 part clarinet or 4 part choir with organ, when I playback, either with the MuseSounds added or in the MS Basic the playback is crackly, bubbly with a load of static and white noise and also a wierd long delay, such that after I stop the playback there are still bubbly, crackles and static going on for a further few seconds or so.

I have the same problem - I'm using a UMC404HD Audio Interface. I tried the suggested fix, no luck.

Did you make the adjustments in Control Panel/Sound, for your interface? Uncheck Exclusive mode? etc.

Thanks for trying to help me, but I don't understand what you mean.
Can you be more precise, keeping in mind that English is not my language....

Sorry. Too many people on this thread. You are on a Mac. I don't know what settings need to be changed on a Mac. Maybe in MU4, go to the menu bar at the top of the screen. Edit>Preferences>I/O and see if you can turn the Buffer up from 1024 to 4096.

Then likely you're not using MuseScore 4(.0.2)?
Had the same problem. Just figured out, that the problem is solved after disabling midi-output.

And how do you disable midi-output ?

Here is the "german" way to do this:
"Bearbeiten" -> "Einstellungen" -> "Ein-/Ausgabe" -> "Midi-Ausgang" -> set to "Kein Gerät"
may be in English:
"Edit" -> "Options" -> "In-/Output" -> Midi-Port out -> setting "no Device"

Ah, just tried that - but it was already set to 'no device' so I guess that's not it for me.

Same for me

That's a pity for you. For me, the effect is 100% understandable: with my midi device as output, the audio playback stutters, without midi device, everything is fine, as it used to be under 3.X.
