I can't type q, x, or z in lyrics
I am trying to type the word "galaxies" as a song lyric in MuseScore 4.0.2, but the x turns into a capital B. Further experiments show that a z turns into a capital A, and a q turns into ½. I looked in Preferences->Shortcuts but I couldn't find an answer. Please help!

Thanks -- but it's still the same. I typed "ga la xies" (not "ga la Bies"!)

What if you type these letters in Word? You may have changed your keyboard layout accidentally
EDIT: I had such a case: https://musescore.org/en/node/261994
EDIT2: This kind of problem can also occur if you assign a shortcut to a plugin

Ah! I solved it. The default font was at fault. The factory setting is MetDemo, which maps strangely in any app I use. I think this is a weird default. Switching to Avenir worked fine, and so would any number of others. Thanks for your help!

That doesn't make much sense, neither font is anything I've ever heard of in connection with MuseScore. Default should be Edwin.

You are right. I forgot that I selected MetDemo myself because I liked the way it looked, not realizing that it is a specialized font that isn't good for regular text. I could say that MuseScore should have warned me about that, but that's a bit whiny. Mea culpa, all is well, thanks! Lucy
