How do I SAVE STYLE so Staff Text color is always bold red

Used to be able to do this in MS 3

With the enclosed file, the Staff Text was changed to the desired format. SAVEd STYLE
Re-opened to program to add more Staff Text the STYLE was not SAVED -- new Staff Text is in the old default format

Go to: Format > Style... > Text Styles > Staff > set colour to Red
Go to: Format > Save Style
Apply the style sheet to any future score: Format > Load Style

I edited the style file to contain just the relevant instruction(s):

  <Style>
    <staffFontStyle>1</staffFontStyle>
    <staffTextColor r="255" g="0" b="0" a="255"/>
  </Style>

Thanks, but ...

When get to Staff> the only options I have a placement and position no option offered to set color

I'm not skilled enough to go into the style file & alter it
I can't read .mss files

You don't need to read the mss file, MuseScore does it for you

That's good.

But I still don't have an answer to my question ... How do I permanently alter style of Text comments ... the recommended format > style > staff text thread does not give me an option to change color.

I think you are following the wrong menu path. As mentioned in my earlier reply, the path is:
Format >Style > Text Styles > Staff > set colour.

Or, use the Properties panel - in the Appearance section - and then click "..." to set as the default style for the score.
