Stem direction
Where there are two instruments on one line of the score such as flute 1 and flute 2 I am assigning voice 1 and voice 2 to their notes so that I can show only their voice in their parts. This gives every pair of notes an up-stem and a down-stem which is clutter that the conductor using the score doesn't need (for most notes)
If I go through and reverse half of the stems one-by-one it makes the quavers look like semiquavers so I have to adjust stem lengths as well. This is a lot of work.
If I make half of the notes stemless they are stemless in the parts too which is no good.
Is there a way to make the two notes look like a chord in the score while still identifying them as their respective instruments for the parts?

Make the stems invisible?

I'm sorry that doesn't work because it makes them invisible in the parts too. Also the stems, tails and beams all have to be selected separately one-at-a-time which is still a lot of work.

No, visibility is clearly layout, so doesn't syc between main score and parts
And right click > Select > More, Same Stave, same voice...

I tested before I posted. It makes the stems invisible in the part too on my computer. Also I've just noticed that when I make a beam invisible in the score it makes the heads invisible too in the score and the part although the beam remains visible in the part.
Same stave same voice selects all the down stems but you want to lose the up stems for the higher notes.

If so that's be a bug. Score needed

Score attached.
Making the stem of a single quaver invisible in the score leaves the tail visible in the score and the stem and tail visible in the part.
Making the stems of a pair of quavers invisible in the score leaves the beam visible in the score and the stems and beam visible in the part but makes one of the heads invisible in the part.
Making a voice 2 beam across 2 quavers invisible in the score makes the beam, stems and heads invisible in the score and the part.
Making a voice 2 beam across 4 quavers invisible in the score makes the beam, stems and heads invisible in the score but leaves them visible in the part.
Making a voice 1 beam invisible in the score makes the beam, stems and head invisible in the score but leaves them visible in the part.

Richt-click one beam, stem or flag, Select > More > Same voice, hit V.

When I click on the "visible" box under the properties tab to untick it I get all the problems described above. When I type V the problems do not occur.
(When I hover over the "Visible" tick box under the properties tab there is no little window that appears to describe the keyboard alternative as is the case with many other items on the screen. So I hadn't learnt about pressing V for visible)
If clicking on the "visible" tick box and pressing V are supposed to do the same thing, I can tell you that they don't.
The visibility method is still a chore after select more same voice I have to go through and change back everywhere where the voice 2 stem does need to be visible because the notes are different lengths.
When I select the whole stave and implode, the stems do exactly what I am looking for but sadly where the note lengths match voice 2 changes to voice 1 so the part is wrong.

Even without the problems, invisibility is still a hard-work way of addressing my question. It could be considered a feature request.

Making stems Invisible is not very satisfactory where the interval between the parts is greater than a third.
