Musescore 4.1 Overall slow

• Jul 12, 2023 - 19:21

The overall performance makes it persive slow to react when editing and playback. I uninstalled and reinstalled it from scratch, and the slowness continues

In order for someone to understand and assist, please provide more info - attach the score you are working on and give precise steps to reproduce the problem, also say what OS you are on and list your system specs. ALso explain how it differs from 4.0.2 for you.

  1. Perceptible delay between selecting a note and its visual feedback.
  2. Perceptible delay between changing the duration of a note and its visual feedback
  3. Perceptible delay between the selection of a beat and its visual feedback
  4. Perceptible delay between the indication to start the playback of the score and its visual feedback along with the audio.

Each of these points did not happen with the previous version.

I don't see any sort of issue, but can you be more specific about which note you are having trouble with? Also, are you using any VST plugins, or have anything unusual about your audio setup?

Also, please make a screen recording, then uninstall 4.1 and reinstall the previous 4.0.2 and repeat that process, then post the recordings to YouTube and add links here so we can see what you are seeing and compare.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but that looks perfectly normal to me. It might help if you turned on display of clicks when recording the video - probably your OS has some accessibility setting for that, or your screen recorder might. As it is, it's hard to tell how much time elapses between a click and the response. But again, overall things look as I expect here from what I can tell.

Hmm if you're experiencing a problem that you believe is due to the software and not something on your computer, then we want to fix it - but we can't do it without your help, as you seem to be the only one experiencing this issue so far. So I do hope you'll persist in helping us understand the issue by showing both videos, and then hopefully we can start trying to do some experiments to understand why things work differently for you than for others.

You're right. The way you move the mouse, you can tell there is quite a delay. I could understand if you was coming from MU3. This is very strange. Did you have to change any audio settings when you first installed any version of MU4? You may need to double check them. I have no problem with the new vwesion.

That's good to hear! There were no changes that could have explained a slowdown in the things you describe, so more likely whatever you saw was being caused by something else, like perhaps some other application running in the background and taking CPU time. So if you see something like this happen again, try opening your computer's resource monitor (e.g., task manager on Windows).
