Note size in MuseScore 4
How do I change the size of a note? I want to reduce it to 75% of the normal size.

Select the note and in the Properties>Appearance panel you can either select "Cue size" which affects the notehead, stem and flags or select "Small notehead" which (as it says) affects only the notehead.
The sizes as %age of the normal size can be adjusted in Format>Style>Sizes. Default is 70%.

Bro I selected the notes, clicked "measure properties", and there is no such thing as "cue size"! I'm using the latest version of musecore.

Not Measure Properties. The Properties panel (formerly known as "The Inspector" and now living on the left hand side of the screen). It will become active once you have selected a note.

Thanks Steve, you solved the problem for me here after I copied some bars in from another Musescore file that were of smaller size.
Hi, I am working out an arrangement of Scarlatti, a 17th century composer. I am using his original handwritten score, which only includes the melody and bass to be able to make an arrangement,
In that time, soloists performed pieces, improvising alternative parts within the melody. I am including a photo of what I mean from a book I found. In the jpg file, you can see in the photo that the alternative noteheads and stems are smaller and the basic melody noteheads and stems are normal sized.
I want to create this effect in my MuseScore version, but I cannot find out how to do this. I cannot find any pallette which deals with sizes of noteheads, let alone variable sizes within one part of one score.
I have MuseScore 4.1.1
Here is the foto of what I would like to be able to do.

If that doesn't help, please come back and explain in more detail what you are trying to do and why the method described in that post falls short of your needs.

hi, Thanks, I was finally able to locate the various places to find this. (not all necessary things were in view; I had to click on view and find that).
Now can make individual notes smaller one by one. However, it was not possible to choose several notes in a measure and leave the other ones intact as to size when they came on the same beat. Is thee a special code for this? I tried using control and click on the ones I wanted to be smaller, but it then just let one note go and took the second one I clicked. Or chose ALL of the notes including the ones I want to keep normal sized.
So... the result works, but is cumbersome.
I thought a workaround might be ossia staff, but then...there would have to be more of it I think. The negative side of the ossia is that it takes up a lot of room on the page... For this reason I didn't delve into how to make ossia, even though there were more instructions of how to make it appear and disappear...

Your picture shows notes in two voices, normal size with stems up, probably in voice 1, and smaller notes with stems down, likely in voice 2.
There are a few different ways to get to your desired end point. I would do it this way.
You need to untick the voice with the notes you want to remain normal sized
Done!
