Use keyboard shortcut M if you want to toggle on and off the display of multimeasure rests.
Use Tools>Remove empty trailing measures if you want to erm... remove empty trailing measures.

Indeed.
Note that a measure is empty only if it contains only a measure rest. Even an explicit whole note rest in a 4/4 measure means it is not empty.
For clarity, an explicit whole note rest is left aligned, a measure rest uses the same symbol but it is centred.

You can select the two remaining and press CTRL+DEL
