how to get rid of stray codas
Hello everyone,
If you go here:
https://musescore.com/user/34876540/scores/8292377
you can find a Musescore document:
Sweet_Georgia_Brown_lead_sheet_STRAY CODAS.mscz
which, when I open it in MS:
OS: macOS 13.4, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.1.1-232071203, revision: e4d1ddf
it displays a pair of stray codas:
I can't seem to select them to get rid of them. Even select-all doesn't include them.
Why are they there and how do I get rid of them? This is not the first time I've gotten stray characters outside the boundaries from something I've downloaded. Sometimes they manage to go away if I delete enough measures. But obviously that is not a feasible solution.
Thanks in advance!

Sometimes when you download a score it just hasn't been created the way that you want. I can't see those rogue markings, but I can see that where they wanted to jump to a coda they have just marked it as the Coda, and they have used Expression text to indicate the start of the actual Coda. They have then gone on to complicate matters further by adding in repeats.
Try the following:
It's unclear to me how the sequence should be played. As far as I know, it is not possible to skip an area in the middle of the score with a coda jump.
How should the sequence be done then?

Or try continuous view

I can see the stray codas off the page in MuseScore 4.1.1, but not in version 3.6.2.
To select them you can right click the Coda sign above the Bb7 chord symbol (measure 8) then Select > Similar then use menu item Format > Reset shapes and positions. (Strangely the Ctrl+R shortcut fails.)
--OR--
If that doesn't work, put the score in Continuous view (horizontal) and the stray codas that were off the page now become selectable (above measure 10) in either Version MuS 3 or MuS 4:
In any event, the entire roadmap of codas and repeats should be re-worked for correct playback.
