Switching from musescore 2 to 4
Hi, I've written quite a few piano scores in musescore 2 and would like to move to musescore 4. What will happen to my scores once I make the transition?

MS4 will only change a score if you open it in the program and save it. Best, though, to create a backup folder and copy your scores to it.

Thanks Underquark, but will I find all the scores I saved to musescore 2 on musescore 4? Do they transfer automatically?

Yes (you'd just need to tell Mu4 to look at the place where Mu2 stored them) and no (there is no automatic conversion, other than open in Mu4 and save, ony by one)

How can I open a score saved in MU2 in MU4? I just installed MU4 but it has none of my previous scores.
Thanks for your help so far!

File > Open
Change to the directory where you saved the scores with Mu2
MuseScore 4 and MuseScore 2 can peacefully co-exist on the same computer.

Thanks. I would prefer having one musescore program, it can get a bit messy otherwise. So trying to figure out if moving to musescore 4 will alter my scores in any way or if they will stay as they were.

MS4 will alter the layout of your scores so take a backup.

No reason to uninstall Mu2 at all
As soon as you opend and saved a Mu2 score with Mu4, Mu2 won't be able to open it anymore, hence better work on copies
