Horizontal Frame on One Staff Only
I'd like to create a horizontal frame that only applies to one staff out of two. The reason is that I want only one measure of a staff in a line, and I want the measure to be short. I'll provide a picture.

Wrong tool for the job, instead see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/showing-staves-only-where-needed#Os…

Thank you so much!

Another question...
I want the little notes and the barline to go further to the left but that affects all the notes in the other staff.

MuseScore is protecting you from incorrect notation. An ossia represents an alternative to the measure below, so the beats must be correctly aligned (vertically) on both staves.

I'm only using Ossia staff as a workaround. My intention is to write the tuning for the instrument for that particular piece.

Maybe a custom triplet, 8 in the space of 7, then 4 quatter notes, stems, triplet bracket and tiplet number invisible?

Thank you but the problem is with the two staves. I can't move any type of note or barline back without the notes or barline of the other staff moving simultaneously.

Workaround: notes. In Properties > Note > Head > Appearance, give them appropriate X-offsets.
Create staf text 1: Insert special character > Musical symbols > Barlines. Adjust Text size and position.
Create staf text 2: a dot, text size 1. In Properties > Text > More set Frame to rectangular.Set Border color to white. Adjust thickness (see white rectangular in image above) and position.
Edit 1: attach both texts to the last 'ossia note'. Edit 2: dot = period.

Sorry, are you using MuseScore 4? Because I don't see any properties option...

Also, If you delete the time signature, then the notes would be too far front.

Move the 'ossia notes' further to the left by changing X-offsets. Adjust the rectangular frame.

I did. Didn't make a huge difference. Thanks though!

Sidepanel Properties in MuseScore 4. Press F8.

This seems to be the optimal situation for now with first note in 'ossia staff' maximal to the left.
Original Time Sig repeated in measure 2, set invisible and deleted in m 1. Time Sig as text added in m 1.
As font for the time sig I had to use an alternative, in this case good old Sonata.
Unfortunately there seems to be a bug when inserting special character 'Time Signatures': it doesn't show on my Win 11 system.

Thank you for the demonstration. I tried it... and I can't get it to look very clean. I might have to create the tuning "ossia" staff somewhere, take a screenshot of it, and put it in the piece as an image.
