Measures per system
How do you set the number of measures on each line? I started with 13 and I only want 4 or 5 per system.

You do it with the "system break" from the layout palette. But I wouldn't do it first. Do it after you are done entering notes.

If it is an empty measure at the end, select Tools>Remove empty trailing measures.
If it is a measure at the end by itself on a line, you can select Format>page settings>scaling and make the staff spacing smaller. The measure will move up to the end of the previous line.

Generally best to open a new forum thread for a different question.
This is found in the handbook at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/adding-and-removing-measures. Select the measure or measures you want to delete and press Ctrl+Delete. There are apparently three alternate methods as well that I had not known about until just now :-)
