Musescore 4.2.0 crashes every time I click "Append text frame"
Hello,
Musescore beginner. Just created my first score from scratch.
Musescore 4.2.0 on a Windows 11 desktop and a Windows 10 laptop (same behaviour on both.)
Simple 12-bar, 2-voice, voice part. First verse of lyrics added under the notes of each staff. Now, I want to add the lyrics of the other verses in a text box under the staves.
The manual says to create a frame and then add a text box. Not sure if I'm creating the frame correctly. I want to add it to the page after the last bar of music.
Add ➞ Frames ➞ Append text frame
Have tried this with the last bar selected and with nothing selected. Every time I click on "Append text frame" Musescore immediately crashes. Disappears without a trace and I'm back on my desktop.
When I restart Musescore, I get a message saying: The previous session quit unexpectedly. Do you want to restore the session? Yes/No.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
Uploading the score in question.
Thanks for your help.
Steven

You don't need a text box to enter lyrics. Select the note where the lyrics are to start. Select "Add" at the top of the screen. Scroll down to "Text". Select "Lyrics" Add your lyrics. Follow the same thing for verse 2.

See: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/lyrics
And for the crash with frames, known issue, see: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/20716

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. For "known issues" what's the protocol? Simply wait for an update, install it and see if it fixes the bug?
Thanks for your help.

Steven

Take the next nightly build (so wait until tomorrow), it will have it fixed

Wonderful! Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned, I have already added the lyrics for the first verse. (Please see the file I attached.) That part works well. It is when I try to add the lyrics for the subsequent verses below the system of staves that I run into problems. I think I do need to create a text box for those.
Cheers,
Steven

". It is when I try to add the lyrics for the subsequent verses below the system of staves that I run into problems. I think I do need to create a text box for those."
What kind of problems? Do the same thing: select the first note and press Ctrl + L, automatically (no need to create a text box) the second verse will be on the right location (below the first verse)

"What kind of problems?"
Sometimes there are so many verses that the only sensible way is to enter 1-3 verses as lyrics (under the notes of each staff), and then to add all the remaining verses in text boxes within a vertical frame.
For an example see this transcription of a song "An den Mond" by Corona Schröter (1751 - 1802) : 10 verses in total!
