How Do You Make Templates?
I was wanting to add some templates to MuseScore3, but the Handbook doesn't tell you how you're supposed to do this.

Just set up a score how you like and save it to your Templates folder (right next to your Score folder). See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/create-new-score#templates

Hi there, I have done this following your 2014 post and changed the file type to mscx. It isn't appearing in the custom templates dropdown of the new score wizard and I can't understand why. Please help! Can share file if it helps?

Ten years ago in MuseScore 1 it might have made sense to use MSCX for templates, but not any more. Just save your score normally to the Templates folder - your own, not the private one within MuseScore's installation folders - and it should show in the list.

Thanks for responding so quickly Marc. I actually tried saving it normally first but nothing. I've tried rebooting musescore. It's in the same folder as others I made ages ago which work fine. Really stumped.

If it was "ages ago" then presumably that wasn't with MuseScore 4, which ahs been out barely a year. So maybe you previously copied older templates from your old MU3 or MU2 or MU1 template folders into your MU4 template folder? Anyhow, you need to be sure that's where you are saving - Documents/MuseScore4/Templates.
If that doesn't help, please attach the score in question, and a screenshot showing it within with folder.

Yep it was about 2020. I'm actually still using MU3 as I haven't had the time to take out to get into new software in the past year. I keep the MU folder in with my teaching resources. The other templates that are in there show up in the wizard. Here are the files. Hope you can help! Cheers, Mark

Use menu item: Edit > Preferences... and look on the General tab in the 'Folders' area. Confirm that the 'Templates' location shown (where MuseScore "looks" for your templates) is correct.
(You may have a local 'Templates' folder as well as a One Drive 'Templates' folder?)

Back in those days, you had to restart MuseScore after installing new templates before they would be recognized.
