New option for "squeezed" chord symbols
When chord symbols are placed next to each other, MU can run out of space to display them all on the same line, and it starts looking not nice, requiring manual repositioning that can't always be successfully nice.
My suggestion is to add an option to "squeeze" chord symbols, similar to the one in iRealPro
Musescore with normal layout
Musescore with squeezed layout (new)
Is this already existing ?

I wonder if changing the chord symbol font to a narrow style font would remedy this. Although special symbols like the triangle for Maj7 might not be available in narrow.

Good suggestion. I just tried but it doesn't work. One can change the font in the properties but it doesn't affect how the Chord Symbol is laid out. It is only affecting the font while one edit the chord symbols.
I tried another way around. Tweaking the chord style file (
chords_jazz.xml
). And there indeed, referencing another font, affect how the Chord Symbol is laid out. But as you suspected it, all the special characters are missing. AND it applies for the whole score. You cannot apply this for some chords only.I'll try to see if I can quickly derive a condensed version of MuseJazz Text.

Using a condensed font should work for the normal style, but won't for Jazz style, as there indeed the font is getting changed to MuseJazz.

Yes, for jazz style chord symbols that'd be the way to go
Stretching the measures should help too

Result with a Condensed font:
Still not ideal, but better. I guess some more tweak of the style file would be required. That will be for a next time.
Do you think this could added to the GitHub repo ?

Done. New option for "narrowed" chord symbols.
I'll try to tweak a little bit more the chord style file and post it here along with the font. If someone would keen enough to test it, that'd be great.
