Guitar bend functionality?
Hurray the bends are back. However...
-
There seems to be a loss of functionality in the bend properties.
I can't add points to control the shape of the curve. Like one that goes up and down for instance.
Am I missing something? -
I have a guitar line on a staff. How do I do a bend and release? I want to strike a note, smoothly bend up a half step and smoothly return to the note. Just a D D# D with only the first striking. Like Do-we-oo
-
Also. The bend lines keep disappearing randomly. They still play but I can't select, edit, or delete them.
I have to reopen the score and that doesn't always work.
What do I have to do to see them on the staff all the time?
Thank you for your attention

I just figured this out a couple of weeks ago, so I may not have all the details quite right, but ...
See the examples I've included in the attached file. The "Pre-bend" doesn't seem to have any effect on playback. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this!) The "Slight bend" will only go up, as far as I've been able to see. The "Full bend" is the one I use when I'm writing for playback. It goes up or down by as much as 3 (?) semi-tones. Click on the bend line itself, not the notes, and then go to the Properties tab to adjust the behavior of a given bend.
The first sounds in the example I made are exactly what you asked for: it bends up, then back down. Two bends required.
Edit: And I've never seen the bend lines disappear, so can't even begin to help with that. Sorry.

Thanks for the tip. I find only the full bend to be useful too. Too bad it's lost so much functionality; that we can't shape the curve.

Starting with a MuseScore 3 file (with properly functioning bends) are you able to import the MuseScore 3 file into MuseScore 4 and get the same bend functionality?

Thanks for the response and question.
When I open a MuseScore 3 file in 4.2 it forgets much of what was saved.
The bends don't play at all
the bend curve does not show up in the properties.

Although I have limited experience with Guitar bends they are important to me. But I'm a bit weary of MS4 testing and reporting so I'm wondering if you'd be willing to create an annotated MuseScore 3 document with a full complement of guitar bends?
I'd like to see how well the various guitar bend symbols and bend properties weather score import to MuseScore 4. Then it would be interesting to know, when a guitar bend is not imported correctly, is it possible to edit it to regain its functionality in MS3, and if so, what steps are required.
As I've stated elsewhere: MS4's are far less versatile than the 3.6 bends. Best I can tell, MS4 bends only have two Bezier control points, whereas MS3.6.2 afforded us 13 points (which were all linear.) Mostly I've found that MS4 botches the import of 3.6.2 bends. And using MS4's new bend objects, I can't re-create various bend effects that I readily achieved in 3.6.2.
I hope I'm just missing something obvious.

You can do the equivalent ... by placing bends on multiple notes. It's not as good as what y'all say MuS 3 was able to do (I never used it in 3 shrug) but it's enough to duplicate most (?) if not all of what you say you could do.
