Playback misses out the first note
Every time I press play, whether from the start or somewhere in the middle, the playback misses out the first note. This has been an issue for ages, when are Musescore going to fix it? Am I the only person with this issue? Please let me know!

It's a normal thing. When you export audio this is not a problem. Muse Sounds simply takes a bit to load.

I've noticed it's fine for exported MP3 and MP4 files, I guess I'll just live with it for now 🥲

FWIW, I seem to only have this issue with Bluetooth headphones. My wired headset seems to be fine.

The issue is worse for me with Bluetooth, but even my wired headphones have the problem.

Intermittently I have a similar "selected note start" problem. It occurs with lots of MuseScore 4 instruments. And it's been like this for a year and a half. That said, it may mostly be MuseHub, yesterday I was scoring for jazz violin with Native Instruments>Guarneri Violin. I that score every note starts on time and plays its full duration.
In contrast to your report, I find that that playback fades in part way through the first note ... on a quarter notes about half of it is missed before the fade in. Definitely annoying.
I also encounter the delay/fade-in when I select a note!
This stuff makes MuseScore 4 feel uncomfortably spongy.
I haven't noticed issues on export to MP3 but I don't use MuseScore 4 much, precisely because of issues like this.

Thing is that on Windows it is possible to make this problem much, much reduced. It's about standard sound device adjustments. They are there for a reason. Might as well use them. And it isn't just about how powerful your computer is. My Surface (8gb ram, 2 core cpu SSD) which is below specs, can play big scores well.

Care to offer some further explanation on how this is achieved? :)

If you have spent any time in the manual, you may have noticed a "How To.." section. There is an article about dealing with sound issues.

Thanks, I'll look into it
