augmentation dots
I am brand new to musescore and so far I cannot find the dot to augment the length of a note anywhere. It doesn't work if I use it on my computer keyboard --- must I use a numeric keypad like the others do, i.e. Sibelius, etc? Otherwise, where is it located? Thanks!

Works for me with number pad (decimal point) and main keyboard (period).
OS: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.4.2-242570931, revision: 3130f97
What computer do you have, what operating system, what keyboard nationality, what keyboard layout, what version of MuseScore? Any other issues?
Crucially - have you read the Handbook? and is there something in there that you have tried and isn't working for you or is there something missing from the instructions?

Thank you for your reply. I have now just begun the courses on how to use musescore and it is helping. But I have run into a problem; when trying to create an 8th note triplet starting with a dotted 8th, followed by a 16th, and lastly an 8th, it doesn't recognize the last 8th as part of a triplet--this causes the measure to be short by one 8th note. And I have looked through the handbook in vain.

"Ctrl 3", "dot" (8th with dot), (set note), "3" (sixteenth), (set note), "4" (eighth), (set note) .
Ctrl 3 - . - g - 3 - a - 4 - b gives this:
