MuseScore not installing on Windows 11

• Nov 28, 2024 - 13:51

I have been trying to install a copy of MuseScore on my new Windows 11 laptop via Muse Hub.
However, it fails to install, giving the error indications in the image attached.
Why might this be?

I followed the instructions to generate a log file - see attached.
Not sure it helps much - as far as I can see, the error is generated inside the installer with no contextual indication of what caused the error.
Audacity installed from Muse Hub without a problem - I think there's a problem with the MuseScore file itself.

Update to this problem:-
The solution that worked for me, after checking out various web posts on MSI Error 2755, was just to create a folder C:\Windows\Installer and reboot.
This seems to be such a generic problem that I can't believe I am, or will be, the only person trying to install MuseScore who will have this issue and suggest it might be worth looking at the Installation file to avoid this.
As far as I know I did not delete this folder from my version of Windows which, for reference, is Edition: Windows 11 Pro, Version: 24H2, OS build: 26100.2314, Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.32.0.

Do a quick Google on the two error codes.

Searching for exit code 2755 returns a number of pages which say that this error indicates a possible problem with certain settings on the Installer folder on your computer.

Searching for exit code 1603 shows that it is a generic "installation failed" message. One page that I looked at includes the problems described by the 2755 error as possible sources of the 1603 error message.

Look at some of those pages and try those instructions.

Or don't install from the HUB.

Remove anything left over from previous attempts. Restart your system them install directly from the download page .
