Invalid bar length error

• Jan 10, 2025 - 13:11

I was working on a file in MuseScore Evolution , saved it, then when I tried to open it next day I got: see uploaded docx file).
Usually I get 3 options when a file is corrupted 'Ignore", "Show details" and 'cancel"etc. I would open 'Show details', see where the problem is, click 'ignore' which opens up the file , and then fix it, which I always manage to do. Now in this case I open 'show details' - the problem is shown but there is no 'ignore' to try to fix it. I have gone into file history, but all the same files come up with this. Same thing if I go into .mscbackup. Is there anything I can do?

Only 3.7 reports an invalid measure length (120/160) in the mscx line 1712.

If you search for this line in the mscx file, which you have extracted with a zip tool, with the editor and replace 120/160 with 3/4 and continue to search for the string "measure lenght = 120/160", you will find this about 10 times. You have to replace it everywhere.

However, MuS 4.4.4 does not report any useful information in "Show Details": File “” is critically corrupted and cannot be processed.!

Yes, but the attached file says: "MSCX error at line 1712: invalid bar length: 120/160"! The denominator may have a maximum of 128!

  • Unzip the mscx with a zip tool.
  • Open it in an editor and find line 1712, correct it from 120/160 to 3/4.
  • Several other lines have the same problem, so find and replace other "measure len="120/160". This occurs about 12 times in your score, as many times as you have instruments.
  • Save the mscx and open it in musescore.

Then a new problem popped up, "Measure 1 staff 2 incomplete." This is specific to this score, for whatever reason. You can fix it: Select measure 1 and delete it - it has no notes.
