Basic mixer instruments
Win 11 and chromebook/linux 4.2 and 4.3
In the strings sounds, from the mixer basic sounds, near the bottom is timpani, not what I think needs to be there.

If you select it, does it use that sound? But then I have 4.4, I don't see that

Have not selected it. Was actually chosing a string sound. I have not looked in 4.4 , yet. Will try to remember today.

According to the GM instrument standard, that is where it should be.

Did not know that was what was being followed. There are many more string options in MS than just what general midi is showing. So putting the timpani in the tonal percussion would have seemed more logical.
Thanks for the info, but it still looks out of place to see timpani in with all those strings. And as I say with many that are not included in the midi standard.
