Audio Stuttering with 4.4.4 in Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1.

• Feb 12, 2025 - 14:16

I'm testing 4 4.4 AppImage inside my desktop computer with Ubuntu Studio 24.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux).

The audio and midi computer configuration is using PipeWire, Jack and Pulseaudio facilities.

Since the two last Linux kernel upgrades (latest is 6.8.53), I'm experiencing lot of midi audio stuttering (each note is playing three or four times before move to the next one).

I've checked all internal and external virtual and physical connections and everything is absolutely fine.

Even more, when I play the same file (as MIDI format, of course) in other app (Qtractor), the music score is absolutely well played!!!

So, it is something inside MuseScore.

I didn't have this problem 2 months ago. So, I guess it is something related with the kernel upgrades. But, I don't have any clue about that "world".

Any idea how to work around this? ???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

I found a solution, but I don't think if it is a valid solution to all the users.
I changed the samples per second audio resolution of the Ubuntu-Studio PipeWire audio server from 48000 to 44100. Also, I changed the MuseScore 4.4.4 samples per second audio resolution to 44100.
Now... Everything is working so fine!!!
The only one doubt I have is... Why? it is supposed my audio card is capable to work with resolutions up to 192000 samples per second. Apparently, there is something wrong inside the PipeWire server not fixed, yet.
Blessings!!!
