Score becomes corrupted
I'm trying to produce several lines of monophonic chant. I successfully achieved what I wanted (chantsGerman.pdf), but when I reopened the file, it was corrupted (project file attached). I fixed the first line and saved it, but when I reopened it, it was corrupted again (chantsGerman-corrupted.pdf). What's going on, and how can I prevent it from happening? Some of the measures are working fine.

Perhaps try this from the manual instead.
Working with non-metered music #
Early music, such as renaissance choral music, may be written without barlines or a time signature. This can be achieved in MuseScore as follows:
Set up the instruments or voices of the score in the usual way (See Setting up your score);
Hide the time signature;
in Format→Style→Score, check the box titled "Display note values across measure boundaries";
Right-click on a measure in the top staff and select Staff/Part properties;
Uncheck "Show barlines"; repeat this for each applicable staff (see note);
Click OK.

Thanks for the suggestion. This music will ultimately be inserted between passages of polyphony, in which your suggestion would not be acceptable. So, I think I have to make it work this way. Also something is clearly not behaving as it should.

Do not delete the time signature, instead disable it in staff properties
