How do you make Musescore stop playing tied notes across to the next measure?
MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34
When I play back a score the tied notes both play and the program even plays rests. How do I correct this?

Sure you don't confuse ties for slurs?

I'm having the same issue in a string quartet. Triple checked for slurs but definitely ties that replay the tied note over the bar line. (plays note - crosses bar line - replays tied note.
