On my system, accents definitely do make a difference in sound and staccatos are appropriate lengths.
What operating system do you have on your computer? Which version of MuseScore Studio? (Help / About MuseScore) Attach a score showing an example of the problem.
I totally agree with this. In fact, it seems like accents emphasize the front of the note way too much and the rest of the note is left quieter than the actual dynamic written. And staccatos are way too bitey
