Setting/changing the tempo of a tune
In previous versions of MuseScore, I could change the playback tempo simply by editing the tempo text in the score. For example, if the tempo text reads "(quarter note) = 80", I was able to select "80" and, with the keyboard" alter it to, say "60". Subsequently, playback would be changed accordingly.
However, in 2.1 the release, this no longer seems to work.
Through the Help menu, I was instructed to use the Inspector to make the change. I tried that, but it did not work either. So, currently I do not know how to set or change the playback tempo of a tune in MuseScore 2.1.
Any suggestions? Is this a bug?

Still works the same

Thx for getting back, Jojo. Unfortunately I'm not getting the same behavior with tempo in 2.1 as before.
in the earlier version, I could select the tempo text (e.g. "b = 80"). Then I could move my cursor around and change the "80" to some other beat count- like say 60. After that, the playback count would actually be changed to the new number (60 bpm).
Is that same action that is working for you in 2.1.0?

In the Inspector put the tick to 'Follow text'
and enter only one Tempo marking ;-)

Your score has three overlapping tempo markings. Drag one of them away and you'll see what I mean. So the problem is you are only changing one of them. You need to delete the extra ones. One of them has "Follow text" disabled, so definitely delete that one - you need to keep that enabled (as it normally is by default). So, delete the one that has "Follow text" disabled, then disable one of the other two, then you can adjust the tempo of the one remaining.

Shoichi. Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, that's exactly what I have already been doing and it no longer works for me under release 2.1.0. MuseScore simply will not accept the change. Visually, it appears with both beat counts (previous and new) superimpose over top of each other. And the playback beat rate is unaffected.

view, play panel,
there is a box that you can type in that has 100% typed by default, and above it shows a number of bom for the tempo... to slow down the tempo, type in a percentage lower than 100, and for faster playback, type in a number greater than 100.
you could also use the blue scroll to adjust the tempo on the right but for exact tempo it's easier just to type it in...for example, 80% of a 120 bpm tempo would play the music back with a tempo of 100 bpm

This is an old thread so the OP probably doesn't even remember asking the question by now. However, the play panel will only temporarily change the tempo and the question was how to permanently change it. This requires the use of Tempo Text which can be found in the text palette.
