How to add something to my score.
How would I add that set of notes in the attachment to a measure in a time signature of 4/4? And what is that 3?
Thanks in advance.

I've tried that and I was only able to make one once but it was while I was messing around with it so I don't know what I did. When I try to make a triplet in any place that is not basic it creates sixteenth rests. And for example it creates 3, and I can only change 2 of them to eighth rests. Meaning I am forced to add one sixteenth note instead of having all 3 of the notes be eighth notes. This is a problem I cant seem to get around. Any inout would be great.

What am I doing wrong?

Select quarter length (5) then add the triplet (Ctrl+3) , just as described in thr manual linked to above

Be sure you're already in note input mode with the cursor where you want to be. Then select the quarter note as the total duration, and press Ctrl+3. A triplet with be created, normally filled with rests that you can then replace with notes. if you want to enter another triplet after that one, you need to select the quarter note as total duration again. Otherwise, eighth note will still be selected (it was selected when you ressed Ctrl+3) and will remain selected, so the next triplet you enter will indeed be sixteenths unless you remember to select quarter note total duration again.
