Multi-measure rest bug

• Feb 7, 2018 - 15:26

I'm testing version 2.2 in anticipation of it's release. I'm going through the Closed issues to test them out. I was testing #53196: Chord Symbols on Multi-Measure Rest NOT Transposed to/from Concert Pitch and discovered that the final measure with chords is included as part of the multi-measure rest in the parts. The result is that any chords not on the first beat are not included. The result is that if you decide to go to the part, you cannot fill with slashes the last measure with chords.

I'm not sure if this is included in another bug "fix" or if a new issue should be started.

There is an example in the attached score.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying your concern is that chord symbols after the first in a measure are ignored with respect to multimeasure rests. That is, if you create an empty score, add two chord symbols to a measure, then enable mmrests, only the first appears? This much is known and considered "normal". We have no way of displaying text anywhere but at the beginning of an mmrest. If you wish to enter slashes, you should do so in the score, or temporarily disable mmrests in the part. Same as if you want to enter notes into, say, the third measure of an mmrest.

You understand correctly. What I would expect is that a measure with chord symbols in it should not be included in a multi-measure rest at all. That measure should not be considered empty. The problem is magnified if there are more chords than on the first beat that end up not being displayed as in my example.

Chord symbols are treated more or less the same as other text - they break mmrests, but don't exclude the measure from consideration as part of a new mmrest. This isn't a bug; it's an important feature, as lots of music depends on the ability to display text at the beginning of an mmrest. If you want the measure completely excluded, there is a Measure Properties setting for that.
