How do I connect/use midi?
have Peavey DPM C8 keyboard, but Musescore won't recognize the midi to input notes. What am I doing wrong?

I had found that instruction protocol, and I did it exactly as outlined, but with no success. Notes input from the computer but not from the keyboard. Both connectors (in and out) plugged into channel 1. My computer sees the keyboard, so I think the problem is not with the connection.

I don't use a midi keyboard, so all I know is what the manual says. My last idea is have you selected a midi input mode? https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input#input-modes. I know the questions may seem demeaning, but don't think that. Many people before you have missed something simple. If this doesn't help, you will have to wait for someone with more knowledge of midi to check the forum.

Thanks for your kind efforts. I tried several of the modes, but generally use the default, which should work with the midi keyboard.
Try entering a note by typing it on the computer keyboard first, then, without leaving note input mode, press a key on the MIDI keyboard, then release it, then press another. Does this do anything? if it stacks notes to form a chord, it suggests MuseScore isn't seeing the "note off" messages correctly, which for some reason seems to happen with certain modes of keyboard.
If still nothing,, then as mentioned, be sure to start MuseScore after connecting and turning on the keyboard (not good enough just to make sure the OS sees the keyboard - MuseScore needs to see it at startup), also be sure you see it selected in Edit / Preferences / I/O and that the MIDI icon on the main toolbar is enabled.
