Bad file format
Gone to update a score in Musescore 2.2, saved it yesterday and on trying to open today I have the following message 'Cannot read file C:/Users/Sue/Documents/MuseScore2/Scores/Weaver's Reel .mscz: bad format'.
Can anyone help please, don't want to have to re-write 140 bars.

Can you share the score?
Might be a case of #271185: Scores corrupted beyond repair, containing nothing but zeros, in which case it'd be helpful if you could fill this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSetNNORplB9K7ye_qicnchXIhQ_GK_…
You should also look for a backup, see https://musescore.org/en/node/52116

If yo use an XML editor you can fix it. If not, then share the score so someone can find the error, fix the score for you and prevent it from happening again.

Several Ottavas had mistakes in them. Here is the score with the problematic ottavas removed. Do you know what you did to these ottavas? Did you edit all of the ottavas? It seems from looking at the errors that rather than < sym >ottava< /sym >ve the text reads < sym > only. BTW, I added spaces between all of the < and > symbols so they would not disappear in this post. It also looks like you changed the text on the ones that are left.

Thank you very much for the info. Yes I did edit the ottavas as my music teacher said that if I didn't add the ve after the 8 then no one would take any notice as it wasn't correctly written.
I've certainly learnt something.

Old notation:
"8va" for octave up.
"8vb" for octave down.
"15ma" for double octave up.
"15mb" for double octave down.
New notation.
If "8" or "15" is above of the staff, it means: octave up
If "8" or "15" is below of the staff, it means: octave down

Ziya, Thanks very much. I've been using the new notation but my music teacher still uses the old notation. I'm certainly keeping to the new from now on.

You can automatically change to the old by removing the check in the box in the menu Style->General->Hairpins, Volta, Ottava.

On all of the ottavas that are more than a measure long you have also made them so they will not play properly. If you double click the ottava you will see the dark red line is drawn to the end of the measure before the end of the ottava. This is because you either dragged the end of the ottava or used ctrl+arrows to adjust the end of the ottavas. The ottavas will only work to where the red line connects to the staff. To increase the range of an ottava (or any other line) use shift + arrows to lengthen or shorten them. You will see the red line anchor will also move.
I have created a bug report #271511: Changing Text in lines leads to corruption. for this issue. Read the bug report to see how to prevent this in the future.
