Verses on separate staves
Hi
Is it possible for me to write a 4 verses to a song where each verse is on a separate staff? It would appear as 4 voice plus treble and bass staves for piano (6 staves in total) as each verse differs slightly but the chorus is the same. It would mean returning back to the beginning but only playing the second staff plus two piano staves, then 3rd plus piano staves etc. Does this make sense or is there a better way to go about this.

Notationwise you can do that, but playbackwise this won't work. To get playback right you'd need to have the verses one after the other, to not need to repeat the refrain you could use customized D.S. al Coda

Thanks Jojo. OK. So what if I used the same staff for two verses but the notes varied slightly due to differing syllables in the lyrics. Can I assign different notes on the voice staff to separate verse lines under it?

Yes, you can. But during playback all those voices will sound at the same time, so again a notation vs. playback issue.
