moving top system down
hi - I have a situation where information above top system on page is being cut off when printing so want to move top system down a bit, but can't figure out how to do this.
if I can, how?
thanks.
(seems a very basic/general question, so haven't attached anything)

Page Margins?

Some software automatisms involve anchoring the text to certain elements of the score.
If you want to add an annotation above the first stave, perhaps you should select the first measure and insert a vertical (or text) frame. The stave will adapt to the new element.

thanks, but changing 'height' setting hardly affects the top system, while changing the layout elsewhere in ways I don't want - any other thoughts from anyone?

sorry, just read the second bit. not sure I follow this, but have attached relevant score if that helps with advice....(issue is on p3, text at top, but in other movements the issue involves non-text elements)

'allargando (ma non troppo) poco a poco al fine' is anchored to measure 29.
I knocked it out (Ctrl + T) at 25 and added a spacer
Not required ;-)
it would be preferable to use as few Voices as possible for each staff (1 and 2 when possible and not 3 etc.)

OK - thanks. I see that the basic problem here was not seeing how to attach upper spacer! (i.e. you have to drag it to the middle of the system rather than the top).
Also thanks for comment re voices. I'm mindful of the issue but it depends, as using more voices can clarify part-writing.

Not sure what you mean about dragging a spacer to the middle of a system - that's not true. Spacers up are attached to the staff you want to create space above, simple as that.

yes, maybe it's the staff I'm dragging it to, but it won't attach to the top edge of the staff, that's my point. try dragging the lower spacer to just below the staff and it will attach, not so with the upper spacer and top of staff. so it's not quite so simple, as there's an inconsistency, and that's what confused me in the first place.

You should be dragging either directly to the staff, not above or below. Although if you drag between staves, it will attach either above or below, depending on which is closer. This is the same for both types of spacer.

Ok, well we've probably both made our points about this.
