Moving notes horizontally
Just read the forum entry and responses regarding moving notes horizontally. It did not answer my problem. I moved a note slightly to the left using Inspector's offset in order to make room for lyrics just at that one site. Only the note head moved, the stem didn't (strange). But I was able to move the stem to the note using offset. However, the beam didn't move with either the note or the stem. I cannot find any way to shift the beam over to the note. It's just hanging there in space. The control points only move up or down or angled but no shift to the left or expansion horizontally. Is there a way?

Sorry, you'll have to explain??? It's a lead sheet. There's only one note (melodic line).

In MuseScore the Element (not the note) section in the inspector is for the note head only. The chord is for the note head and everything attached to it like stems, flags, dots, chords, articulations...

Thank you! Very specific explanation. Found "chord" offsets in Inspector and it worked perfectly. Thanks Mike.
Still, it would be useful if you attached your score and explained what you are trying to do in more detail. MuseScore normally allocates extra space for lyrics automatically - you should virtually never need to manual move notes for this (or indeed any) purpose. So I wonder if there is something else going on here.

Thanks for the comment Mr. Sabatella... I've been ignored on other forums (other subjects) before but you guys have been wonderful, responsive and I truly appreciate your time and interest. There's nothing else going on in that simple score and I did notice that measures and note positions do shift to accommodate the lyrics. Just one area where I wanted a little more shifting and centering of the note over where I had already shifted the lyric. As you pointed out, and I admit, there was no real, compelling necessity for moving the note other than my own obsessiveness but since I had tried to do so and couldn't I really wanted to know how. I have two manuals which I have searched extensively, one of them I purchased and am just realizing it is yours. I am awed. My problem was the terminology. I've been able to find an answer in the book for everything I needed up until this butI didn't know what term to search. I think literally. The idea that all the "note" components and anything else attached to that note would be called a 'chord' did not enter my mind. I am a fairly accomplished musician but less of a software person so the term 'chord' means something entirely different to me... and so I ignored it in the Inspector's Offset dialog options. At any rate, I understand now and whether I need the feature or not I'm glad to know how it works. Thank you again, sir, for your response.

You're welcome! FWIW, the "note" vs "chord" distinction is explained some in my book, check the index under "Chords". It is indeed non-obvious.
