How to move one bar to the previous system?
At one page I have two systems. The first one contains five bars. The second system has only one bar. I want the only bar in the second system to appear in the first one. How can I do that?

By making the musicic smaller or more tightly spaced. Try the latter first - select the bars you want more tightly spaced (eg, the ones you want to squeeze onto one system) and use Layout / Reduce Stretch (shortcut "{") until they are narrow enough to fit the extra measure.

I'm having the same problem with my score. I want measures 7-12 to be laid out on two systems with 3 measures each. I'm using the decrease layout stretch command, but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I just can't seem to completely understand how layout works in MuseScore. I wish there would be the same functionality as in Finale, where you can set exactly how many measures you want in each system, on a system-by-system basis.

You can only decreast stretch to a certain amount, if that is still not enough you need wider paper or a smaller overall spacing or some other style changes allowing smaller or denser notation.
Another is might be a(n invisible) system break, this of course does prevent the folloing messure to join the previous staff

In MuseScore you can set how many measure you want per system as a maximum, but you can't force a minmum value

Fotr this score you can get it to fit if you decrease staff space from 1.8xx to 1.6xx and then decrease the measure stretch on those 6 measures
