Opening MusicXML Files
Hi.
I'm in the process of moving a number of files from Sibelius format into native Musescore format. So I'm going via MusicXML in between. Most open okay, but I've got some that don't work. They cause Musescore to crash every time. I've attached one example (I Surrender.mxl).
I've spent a while looking in the issue tracker, to see what might be relevant.
I saw that this is an issue to me:
[#283041]
Musescore 3.0.2: Writing workspace file failed (in Preferences/when exiting)
I wondered if that might simply be because I've caused Musescore to crash out so much. But I guess quite a few people could be experiencing that one, and the temporary workaround fixed that issue for me. The MusicXML still won't load though.
This could be the issue I'm still experiencing:
#282547: XML Import of certain malformend file crashes MuseScore 3
XML Import of certain malformend file crashes MuseScore 3
But how do I find out if the XML is malformed? And is there any workaround for this?
Details:
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.2.5312, revision: 8ca4d2c.
Thanks
Dave

Reg Musescore 3.0.2: Writing workspace file failed (in Preferences/when exiting) see #283046: Changing preferences or workspace leads to error
Reg. that possibly malformed XML: try opening it in 2.3.2, at least in the issue you mentioned that didn't crash but reported the (first) malformation

Thanks Jojo. I tried that, and I did get a bit further. Unfortunately that gave me a native .mscz file that was equally good at causing Musescore 3 to crash. So I think I'll have to go back to the drawing board with that particular file.

You got an XML error message though, didn't you? One you can take up with the vendor of the exporting software?

MuseScore 2.3.2 opens that MXL without any issue
MuseScore 3.0.2 opens it too, so I'm not where where your problem is?
